Fr. Walter “Wally” Raymond OGS

Welcome to the weblog for my travel notes from the Middle East. I am the Dean of the Anglican Cathedral in Old Quebec Quebec City www.quebec.cathedral.ca and I am completing a four month sabbatical leave from my home cathedral, living among the Armenian Orthodox communities in Lebanon and Jerusalem.

I completed the first phase of my journey on April 18, 2006, after spending three months in Antelias, a suburb of Beirut, as the guest of his Holiness, Aram the First, Catholicos of the Great House of Celicia, one of the two main branches of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church.

After spending a couple of days in Cyprus, I began the second stage of my time in the Middle East when I arrived in Jerusalem on Great Thursday of the Orthodox Holy Week, to spend nearly a month at the Armenian Monastery of SS. James as the guest of his Beatitude, Torkum, the Patriarch of Jerusalem.
