April 20-23, 2006 Here's a look at the schedule for the long succession of
major services from Great Thursday through to Easter Tuesday,
something like 16 distinct events in six days:

9 a.m., Great Thursday Badarak,
commemoration of the Last Supper.

2 p.m., Thursday,
Foot washing ceremony.

7 p.m. to midnight, Tenebrae vigil
recalling the Agony in the Garden.
-
1 p.m., Great
Friday vigil of readings, telling the story of the passion and
death of Jesus.

4 p.m., Great Friday Solemn
Burial Service
-
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Great Saturday door
opening and, eventually, the ceremony and processions of the
Holy Fire.

4:30 p.m., Saturday, the first Badarak
(Eucharist) of Easter, Cathedral of SS James, at followed by a
procession to the dinning hall for the first Easter meal and the
breaking of the great fast of Lent and Holy Week (48 days in all).

2 a.m., Easter Sunday, procession to
the Sepulchre and then a procession around the Aedicule and through
the basilica. f

7p.m.
Easter Badarak at the Aedicule -- all ending around 9 a.m.

4 p.m., Easter Sunday,
Solemn Procession within the grounds
of the Armenian Monastery

6:45 a.m. until noon,
Easter Monday, Matins followed
by the Easter Badarak, procession of the holy relics, and the
blessing of the pilgrims.

9 a.m. until 1 p.m., Easter Tuesday,
Memorial Badarak, Solemn procession to the Armenian Cemetery, annual
Genocide Memorial Service there.
